Building a better future through personal and professional growth

For more than two decades, I have been a dedicated educator and leader in higher education. Throughout my career, I have been able to work in diverse academic settings, but one constant has been the ever-present need to embrace change and innovation.

As an educator and administrator in higher education, I am constantly focused on preparing students for the uncertain future of work and education. I firmly believe that higher education should be accessible to all, providing the opportunity to learn new skills, gain new perspectives, and apply this knowledge towards a meaningful and prosperous career. By empowering individuals with the tools to achieve professional stability, we can help them establish a strong foundation for personal fulfillment and success.

Over the past eight years, I have had the privilege of working at the University of Cincinnati, a renowned institution committed to experiential learning and industry partnerships. In my various roles as a co-op educator, advisor, professor, director, and innovator, I have witnessed the transformative impact of practical, skills-based education. While students also acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge, a competency and outcome-based approach to education is key to preparing them for lifelong learning and professional growth. By integrating real-world experiences into their learning journey, students can maximize their personal and professional development, leading to greater outcomes and significant life-changing opportunities.

My approach to education is informed by three fundamental concepts that have been integral to my professional growth.

  • Commitment to delivering teaching excellence
  • Exploring and teaching leadership development
  • Innovating systemic change in higher education

First and foremost, I am committed to delivering teaching excellence, ensuring that all students have the tools and support they need to succeed. Second, I prioritize exploring and teaching leadership development, recognizing the crucial role that leadership skills play in personal and professional success. Finally, I am dedicated to innovating systemic change in higher education, pushing the boundaries of traditional approaches to foster new and more effective learning and teaching methods.

My diverse professional experience has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and skills that have informed my approach to leadership and education. Through various roles in different programs, departments, schools, and institutions, I have gained expertise in adaptive leadership, design thinking, servant leadership, entrepreneurship, keynote speaking, workshop facilitation, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, StrengthsQuest (StrengthsFinder) facilitation, Certified Product Owner, and Certified Scrum Master. These skills have equipped me to develop innovative and effective strategies for teaching and leading, and I am committed to leveraging this expertise to empower individuals and organizations to achieve their full potential.
